Simon Hanrath

Simon Hanrath grew up in Krefeld, Germany. This was a real stroke of luck for him because in Krefeld he met his first saxophone teacher Laszlo Dömötör, who still typifies a central source of his motivation and inspiration. Another advantage of Krefeld was the geographic proximity to the city of Dortmund. In Dortmund he was able to have Professor Daniel Gauthier, one of the most famous classical saxophonists worldwide, as his main tutor during his studies.

Simon Hanrath won the "Jugend musiziert" competition several times. Further awards followed during his studies, like the first prize at the "Gustav-Bumcke-Saxophonwettbewerb" saxophone contest, or the scholarship of GWK (Gesellschaft zur Förderung des Westfälischen Kulturarbeit). Still ongoing, he is a constant guest in leading German orchestras (WDR symphony orchestra cologne, Essen philharmonic orchestra, Ensemble Modern). Since 2005 he works as an assistant Professor at the "University of Music and Performing Arts" in Frankfurt. In 2003 Simon Hanrath moved to Ulm where he works closely with the saxophone quartet "SAXOFOURTE" and looks forward to a busy schedule of concerts.

Simon Hanrath is a Yamaha Performing Artist.
