Welding
Differing from other manufacturers, Yamaha's welding is used to create part of the Saxophone's overall sound. Yamaha utilises a single piece of brass, which has been subject to acoustic annealing, a special treatment developed by Yamaha to give the right density to the metal and provide increased resonance and projection.
The single piece of brass is bent into shape before welding the edges together using a machine called the 'seam roller'. This combination of technology and traditional craftsmanship exemplifies how Yamaha's craftsmen are able to produce consistently high quality instruments.
